The 5 Tracks of the World's Biggest Business Competition, Explained

The World's Biggest Business Competition runs across five tracks, and picking the right one is the first real decision an entrant makes. Simon Squibb's four-week programme sorts founders by the kind of business they want to build: E-commerce, Services, Creator, Coaching & Communities, and App Builder. Every track competes for the same $1M prize pool, and each track has an equal share of the awards. Emergent sponsors the App Builder track, the route for founders who want to launch a real app without writing code.

Each track pairs you with a purpose-built tool and the same core support, then points you at your first sale. The differences that matter are what you build and where you sell it, so here is what each track is for and where Emergent fits.

Every track shares one structure

The five tracks differ by business type, but the mechanics are identical. You register on the official competition site, pick a track, and choose between two ways to take part. General Entry is free and leaves you to assemble your own tools. Fast Track is the recommended upgrade: it bundles a partner tool for your track plus a shared support stack, including a private kickoff call with the HelpBnk team, every weekly webinar recording, a chapter from Simon Squibb's book "What's Your Dream?", a Fast Track badge, and a free six-pack of DreamBrew for UK participants.

The prize structure is shared too. The $1M pool is split across 181 winners, with one $100,000 grand prize and 180 runner-up prizes of $5,000 each. Those runner-up awards are divided evenly, 36 per track across the five tracks. The four-week building phase runs 24 October to 20 November 2026 and closes with a live Demo Day finale where top finalists pitch for the grand prize. Full rules are set out in the official terms and conditions.

Rank Winners Cash prize
Grand prize 1 $100,000
Runner-up 180 $5,000 each

E-commerce is for founders selling physical products

The E-commerce track suits anyone launching an online store. The goal is a storefront that takes payments and lands a first sale, so the track is built around getting a real shop live rather than planning one.

Services is for founders selling their time or expertise

The Services track fits consultants, freelancers, and agencies who sell work to clients. It centers on shaping an offer, bringing client notes, projects, and documents into one workspace, and onboarding the first paying client cleanly.

Creator is for founders monetizing an audience

The Creator track is for people who want to sell to an audience they already have or are building. The aim is one clear storefront for digital products, memberships, and services, so followers have a single place to buy.

Coaching & Communities is for founders selling knowledge

The Coaching & Communities track suits coaches, educators, and community builders. It focuses on packaging knowledge into information, education, or community products that live in one place and start earning.

App Builder is for founders launching software, and Emergent sponsors it

The App Builder track is the route for founders who want to ship an actual app or website, and it is the track Emergent sponsors. First-timers are welcome here, and no coding experience is required to take part. The Fast Track upgrade frames Emergent as the sponsor's gift: build your first app with an AI-powered full-stack builder, even if you do not know how to code.

On the platform, the track comes down to four things you do:

  • Describe what you want in plain English, and Emergent handles the frontend, the backend, and the business setup.
  • Wire in Stripe and deploy to a live URL on a custom domain.
  • Ship the same product to web, iOS, and Android from one chat, with the App Store and Google Play submission flow built in.
  • Keep everything, with full codebase ownership, GitHub export, and your own domain, win or lose.

That setup is the point of the track. Founders reach a live, payment-taking product fast, then spend the competition working toward a first sale rather than fighting a tech stack. The competition recommends Emergent without requiring it, noting that entrants can use an equivalent platform if they already have one. Judging and selection criteria, and how winners are chosen, are set by the competition organiser and published in the official rules.

How App Builder entrants get set up on Emergent

App Builder entry takes four steps, and the pricing is fixed at registration. Register on the official competition site and choose the App Builder track. Select the Fast Track option, which includes Emergent plus the shared bonuses. Create your Emergent account through the unique link the Fast Track page provides, using the same email for both. Then upload your signup proof to unlock your pass and start building.

The Emergent link activates a 7-day Standard pass with 100 credits, then continues at $20 per month with 100 fresh credits. Full details on dates and how to enter are set out separately, and all figures are set by the competition organiser.

Pick your track by what you sell, then build

Choosing a track comes down to what your business sells: physical products point to E-commerce, client work to Services, audience products to Creator, knowledge to Coaching & Communities, and software to App Builder. Every track runs on the same four-week clock, the same shared support, and the same $1M pool, so the decision is about fit, not advantage.

If what you want to launch is an app or a website, App Builder is the track, and Emergent is the build platform behind it. Entry is free, registration is open now, and you can browse this and other open challenges on the AI contests hub
