Emergent's $130 Mn Round Tops India's Q3 2026 Startup Funding Charts

Emergent raised the biggest startup funding round in India between July and September 2026. Inc42's quarterly report, released on September 30, puts Emergent's $130 Mn Series C at the top of its Q3 2026 rankings. River's $120 Mn round is second, and Navi and Pixxel follow with $100 Mn each.

The ranking matters because of who usually sits at the top. Fintech and ecommerce companies have long led India's funding charts. Inc42 notes that this quarter's largest round went to a homegrown AI company for the first time in its records, which go back to 2014.

Emergent is built for founders and small business owners who know what software they need but can't write the code. They describe it in plain language, and Emergent builds a full-stack app they can deploy.

Emergent led four mega deals in Q3 2026

Emergent's round was one of four deals worth $100 Mn or more this quarter. Q3 2025 had just one. Inc42 describes it as a return of larger cheques after big rounds came to a near-standstill in 2025. It also notes the recovery is still well short of Q3 2024, which had 10 mega deals.

The four deals were spread across AI, mobility, fintech, and spacetech. Inc42 says this spread shows big-ticket investor conviction returning across several sectors, not concentrated in one.

Rank Startup Sector Funding amount Notable investors
1 Emergent AI $130 Mn Creaegis, Khosla Ventures, SoftBank, Lightspeed, Y Combinator
2 River Cleantech (EV) $120 Mn Elev8 Venture Partners, Claypond Capital, Anicut Capital, Alteria Capital, InnoVen Capital, Stride Ventures
3 Navi Fintech $100 Mn* Prosus
4 Pixxel Deeptech $100 Mn Temasek, 360 ONE Asset, IMM Investment, Radical Ventures, growX ventures

10 The Pizza Bakery Foodtech $55 Mn Artal Asia
11 Zetwerk Enterprise services $52 Mn Bharat Value Fund

AI became the most-funded sector of the quarter

AI startups raised $438 Mn across 35 deals in Q3 2026. That is up 265% from $120 Mn a year earlier. Cleantech came a close second at $433 Mn, and deeptech was third at $290 Mn.

Inc42 credits Emergent's round with anchoring the AI sector's jump. By our calculation from the report's figures, Emergent alone made up nearly 30% of all AI funding in the quarter. It also made up close to 6% of the $2.2 Bn raised by all Indian startups.

The older funding leaders fell back. Fintech funding dropped 11% to $249 Mn, and ecommerce fell 31% to $245 Mn. Ecommerce still logged the most deals, with 44.

Emergent became India's sixth unicorn of 2026

Emergent's Series C valued the company at $1.5 Bn. Emergent says that made it a unicorn about a year after its public launch. Inc42 counts it as India's sixth unicorn of 2026. India minted two unicorns in Q3 2026, Emergent and Astrotalk, after minting none in Q3 2025.

Creaegis led the round, with MNI Ventures–Claypond Capital and Sentinel Global as co-leads. Existing investors Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator also took part. The round brought Emergent's total funding to $230 Mn.

The following operating figures are company-reported and have not been independently verified. Emergent says more than 12 million apps have been built on the platform since launch, and that 70% of its users have no prior coding experience. CEO Mukund Jha told TechCrunch the company had reached a $120 Mn annual run rate and more than 200,000 paying customers.

The wider market stabilised but did not rebound

Indian startups raised $2.2 Bn across 210 deals in Q3 2026. That is a 5% rise in funding from a year earlier, even though deal count fell 13%. Inc42 frames this as a market that has found a floor, not one that is accelerating. The quarter was still below the eight-quarter average of about $2.7 Bn.

Growth stage was the only stage that grew. Funding there rose 46% to $1.1 Bn, overtaking late stage funding for the quarter. AI led the stage on both funding and deal count. Late stage funding slipped 1% to $994 Mn, which shows that large pre-IPO cheques are still scarce.

Bengaluru, where Emergent is based, raised $1.4 Bn+ across 80 deals. That is up 157% year on year. Inc42 lists Emergent, River, Pixxel, Navi, Yulu, Ultraviolette, and Ultrahuman among the city's notable funded startups.

What the ranking means for people building on Emergent

The ranking reflects how much investors believe in software that non-technical founders build themselves. Investors put more money into Emergent than into any other Indian startup this quarter. That capital goes into a platform that turns a plain-language description into a working app, with a frontend, a backend, and deployment.

Emergent says it will use the new funding to improve the success rate of the apps users build and to strengthen its core AI agent workflows. CEO Mukund Jha has also said the company is expanding into business automation for small businesses.

For founders, the practical effect is that custom software no longer has to start with an agency quote. You can describe a booking app for your clinic or salon and build it yourself. A sales team can do the same with a custom CRM. Founders with a product to sell can follow our guide to building a SaaS product without code.
